After a mission, whether in training or real-world operations, a « two-ship » (Air Force) or « section » (Navy/Marine Corps) of fighter aircraft will look each other over for any battle damage, missing panels, fluid leaks, hung ordnance, etc. In training it’s called « clean & dry checks. » In combat it’s « battle damage checks. » Either way, it’s a lot like checking each other for ticks.
