A statement from the organising club, Dithmarscher Luftsportverein, said, “For three days, aircraft that are well over 50 years old and pilots with the same or even greater life experience, show what their historic aircraft are capable of. And even if it’s a world championship with competitions, the focus is always on this beautiful vintage birds and having fun with flying.”

The championships are divided into three categories:

  • Vintage: Aircraft registered in 1955 or earlier
  • Classic: Aircraft registered in 1975 or earlier
  • Replica: replicas of aircraft from the two previous categories as well as newly built ‘oldtimers’ or ‘classics’.

Flights are from Thursday to Saturday. Thursday is training day and serves as a safety briefing. Competition days are Friday and Saturday. An award dinner in the hangar for all active participants on Saturday evening forms the grand finale. Want to enter or fly in? Email vawc@dithmarscher-luftsportverein.de
