BRP-Rotax has issued a surprise Mandatory Service Bulletin for three of its latest 900-series engines: the fuel-injected 912 iS, 915 iS and 916 iS.
The inspection may reveal that the crankcase and/or the gearbox housing will need replacing,
Rotax says it has identified a potential manufacturing issue affecting the hardness values of the crankcase and/or gearbox housing materials in certain engines.
“These components may not meet the required specifications for material hardness, which could lead to reduced component durability and/or potential oil leakage,” says the BRP-Rotax statement.
“If you own, operate, or maintain a 912 iS, 915 iS, or 916 iS fuel-injected engine, you may be affected if its serial number (S/N) falls within the ranges listed in the Appendix section of the Certified version of the Service Bulletin,” continues BRP-Rotax.
