Until now, Kangerlussuaq airport, with its runway of almost 3,000m, served as the primary entry point for international flights to Greenland. However, Kangerlussuaq is located in a fairly remote area of western Greenland, and this forced most travellers to take one-hour connecting flights to reach Nuuk, the country’s capital and major tourism hub. The new airport eliminates the need for further transfers, saving travellers time and money.
